John Sverre Rønnevik is the Head of Sustainability at Deep Wind Offshore (DWO), where he leads the company’s efforts in sustainability, permitting, and consenting. Deep Wind Offshore has over the last few years grown significantly and now have 50 employees across the globe. In 2023, Octopus Energy became a shareholder to accelerate further growth. Deep Wind Offshore so far has offshore projects under development in Norway, Sweden, South Korea, Chile, and Estonia – including 3 GW under exclusive development. With a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, he actively contributes to the development of offshore wind projects in South Korea, Chile, and Norway. Rønnevik holds degrees in political science and climate change management, earned from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy, the University of Bergen, and the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. His multidisciplinary background has shaped his approach to sustainability, risk management, and project development. Before joining DWO, he gained extensive experience working across the military, the oil and gas industry, the National Public Roads Administration, and the consulting sector, tackling challenges in sustainability, safety, preparedness, and risk assessment. His expertise in nature-inclusive design, particularly within Norwegian infrastructure projects, has been instrumental in enhancing biodiversity and ensuring climate change mitigation and adaptation.
